Day 2 Tour of the Giza Pyramids
Leave the hotel to embark on a full day tour of the Giza Pyramids, Memphis and Saqqara. Visit the towering pyramids, the ruins of Memphis in the village of Mit Rahina, and then onto the Saqqara Necropolis, where the step pyramid of Zoser stands. Lunch included. Head back to the hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.
Day 3 Tour of Cairo
Today head out for a full day tour of Cairo. Start the day with a morning visit to the Egyptian Museum with a guide. After lunch (included), head to the Citadel to see the once glorious medieval fortification. To complete the day, head to the famous Khan-el-Khalili Bazaar for a bit of bartering. Head back to the hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.
Day 4 Alexandria
Early this morning, head from Cairo to Alexandria. In Alexandria, visit the Library of Alexandria, the fort of Quaitbay (built on the original site of the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria and from the lighthouse ruins), the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa ( a series of Alexandrian tombs, statues and other artifacts influenced by the Hellenistic and Roman funeral cult), the Pompey's Pillar and the Roman theatre. Finally walk in Montazah Gardens on the grounds of the Montazah Palace. Lunch is included. Evening return to Cairo
Day 5 Transfer to Luxor
to the airport for flight to Luxor. Upon arrival in Luxor, airport reception and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure.
Day 6 Exploring Ancient Egypt's Art History
Today enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the West Bank of the Nile to visit the Valley of the Kings and the temple of Queen Hatshepsut. The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut also served as a dedication to the sun god Amon-Ra, and was the first of its kind to depict the heritage of divinity of a female Pharoah. The Colossi of Memnon are two enormous moments to Pharoah Amenhotep III. In the evening, return back to the hotel.
Day 7 Tour of the Luxor and Karnak Temples
Enjoy the morning at leisure and then head out for a half day tour of the Luxor and Karnak Temples. These two incredible temple complexes were established in honor of the sun god Amon-Ra. With his consort Mut and his son Khonsu, he formed the Theban Triad for which the temples at Karnak and Luxor were built to honor.
Day 8 Transfer to Aswan
Transfer to Aswan by car. Upon arrival in Aswan, going to a hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 9 Tour of the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk
This morning, depart for a half day tour to visit the High Dam, the unfinished Obelisk, and the Philae Temple. The unfinished Obelisk lies in the quarry north of the city and would have been the largest ancient Egyptian obelisk if it had been finished. The Philae Temple was actually moved from its original site due to the construction of the High Dam.
Day 10 Abu Simbel
Today, transfer to the airport for a flight to Abu Simbel. Upon arrival, reception and transfer out for a tour Situated 280 kilometers south of Aswan, fly from Aswan to Abu Simbel to visit the two temples of Abu Simbel, known as the most magnificent temples in the world. The first temple was built by the Pharaoh Ramses II, and the second was built for his wife Queen Nefertiti. After the tour, transfer back to Aswan by car. Overnight at Aswan
Day 11 International flight home
Transfer to the airport for a return flight home.
